About the Team

ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified Library Media Specialist at Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, MI.

As a Library Media Specialist at Barber Preparatory Academy, you will play a pivotal role in providing a well-balanced media center to enhance and support the school's educational goals and objectives. Your responsibilities will be diverse, including serving as a teacher and instructional partner, program manager, and specialist. You will have the unique opportunity to develop and implement research-based instructional practices in early literacy.

About the Opportunity:

Responsibilities include to-

Prepare and deliver lesson activities to promote reading and learning through books.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students

Maintain library materials by organizing and cataloging all books, videos, and additional resources.

Collaborate with school leadership and teachers to incorporate library resources and skills into the curriculum

Manage student behavior

Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in

Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms

Communicate and meet with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child

Incorporate technology skills into daily practice to support learning

Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities as needed

Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues

Perform other duties as assigned

About You:

Active and current state of Michigan teaching license with Library Media subject endorsement

Bachelor's degree in education or related field

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to appropriately manage confidential information

Able to supervise students of various ages

Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks

Experience working within an urban environment
