Title: Machine Operator/Straightener
Shift: 1st shift (5am-3pm, Mon-Thurs, 4/10's schedule)
Pay: $21-$23/hr
Location: Austintown, OH
Sets up and operates barrel straightening equipment used in the production of bi-metallic barrels that are utilized in the injection and extrusion molding machines. This work involves straightening to close tolerance dimensions using a peening process and inspecting using indicators.
Machine Operator/Straightener Responsibilities:
· Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions. Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture.
· Maintains a clean and orderly (6S) work area and equipment to ensure a safe and productive work environment and quality products.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work orders, specifications, drawings, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
· Sets up, operate, and inspect straightening machine and equipment.
· Must be able to interpret blueprints, use of mic bar and micrometers, base and dial indicator, t bars, magnetic base, and dial indicator.
· Must be able to set up and operate propane torches.
· Must be able to use ball peen hammer and air chisel and various hand tools.
· Must be familiar with propylene torches, able to mix coolant and test coolant ratio and the use of refractometer.
· Positions workpiece in fixture or on machine, verifying current condition with instruments such as micrometers and dial indicators.
· Ability to use hand tools (hammers of various weights) to straighten large steel barrels to a required tolerance.
· Uses a variety of precision measuring instruments and tools to ensure proper tolerances are maintained.
· Meets established standards for productivity and quality.
· Operates overhead crane systems and material handling equipment.
General Responsibilities:
· Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.
· Meets on-site attendance requirements.
· Pursues continuous improvement by suggesting, implementing, and supporting solutions/strategies to increase productivity, reduce scrap, and improve the operation, and decrease downtime; participates in continuous improvement activities and projects, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
About you:
Work Experience:
· 2-3 year's experience in a machine or forge shop and/or the equivalent in training in shop practices.
Education and Skills:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required
· Must have the ability to read specifications, drawings, blueprints, and procedure manuals and the use precision instruments.
· Ability to utilize various internal computer applications and systems pertaining to work orders.
· Understanding of me is preferred but not required.
· Professional and obtain great work ethics.
· A problem solver with initiative and a results-oriented mindset.
· Greatly attentive to detail.
· Ability to work flexible work schedule; OT may be required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation:
· Position may require person to be on their feet to 8-10 hours standing or walking in a heavy manufacturing environment, constantly performing regularly scheduled maintenance duties
· Ability to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds infrequently
· Ability to safely operate forklift, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
· Ability to see and hear in order to perform the functions of this position
