Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Substation Designer to join our collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering team in Columbus, OH. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects for utility clients while enjoying the flexibility of a balanced in-office schedule.

Job Function:

Deliver construction-ready design packages for high-voltage substations, including relays and controls.

Create protection and control (P&C) logic diagrams, one-line diagrams, wiring and cable schedules, general arrangements, and other substation-related drawings.

Select non-engineered substation materials such as relays, high-voltage switches, cable, and insulators.

Produce material take-offs for P&C equipment, conduit, wire, and structural components.

Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Stay current on industry trends and client developments.

Identify and align internal capabilities with client needs to expand service opportunities.

Education and Experience:

An associate's degree or equivalent technical education is required.

2–5 years of experience in electric utility substation design (consulting or industrial experience considered).

Focus or experience with protection and control packages is highly valued.

Demonstrated ability to create technical drawings from sketches, notes, and vendor documentation.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Office 365 and SharePoint preferred.

Experience with REVIT or Inventor (made by AutoCAD).

Solid communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong understanding of substation construction practices and design standards.

Ability to interface effectively with clients and internal teams.
