Job Description:

The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2026. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality research in Clinical Psychology, including but not limited to psychopathology, psychotherapy, and assessment. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research interests will complement existing faculty expertise and deepen course offerings within the Psychology Department.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally supported program of research, engage in research training and clinical supervision, and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should be strongly committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarly research and should be license-eligible in Washington, DC. Responsibilities will include participation in our APA-accredited PhD program in Clinical Psychology as well as departmental, college and university activities.

The annual salary range is $90,000-98,000. Applicants should have a PhD from an accredited program in Clinical Psychology or an anticipated PhD completion by August 2026.
