The Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics (AEDE) is seeking a qualified semester lecturer to teach AEDE 4535: Economic Development during the Fall 25/26 semester. This interdisciplinary course explores the economic dimensions of global development, with a strong emphasis on policy analysis and real-world applications in global health.

Course Description:

This course introduces students to the key issues surrounding development, focusing on economic factors and policies. Topics include:

Definitions and measurements of development and economic growth

Barriers to development and strategies to overcome them

Microeconomic issues such as health, education, and credit

Macroeconomic topics including savings, industrial policy, and trade

Application of economic concepts to global health challenges

Team-based learning and collaborative problem-solving

Qualifications:

Required:

Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, International Development, or a closely related field

Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate students effectively

Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

Experience with team-based learning or active learning pedagogies

Prior teaching experience in development economics or related subjects

Familiarity with interdisciplinary approaches to global development
