Overview:
Saalex Solutions, Inc., a premier engineering and logistics services company supporting the Navy's TCTS and TARIF efforts, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Project Scheduler to support planning and execution activities under the System Support Activity (SSA) at TARIF in Ridgecrest, CA. This is an ideal opportunity for a junior-level candidate with foundational scheduling experience and a desire to grow into managing complex hardware and software sustainment projects in a fast-paced defense environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support development and maintenance of detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project, in alignment with SSA lifecycle planning and TARIF fielding timelines
Assist in building and managing granular-level Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) tied to product support, technical refreshes, and fielding operations
Coordinate with logistics specialists, system engineers, and sustainment leads to ensure accurate task sequencing, dependencies, and milestone visibility
Track progress against planned activities and highlight risks, slippage, and required mitigations
Support creation and integration of Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and related tracking tools
Prepare data for recurring schedule updates, leadership briefings, and status meetings Qualifications:
U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
1-3 years of experience in project scheduling, planning, or coordination
Proficient with Microsoft Project, including task linking, constraints, and milestone creation
Ability to interpret and contribute to WBS structures aligned with DoD program requirements
Strong interest in learning Integrated Product Support (IPS), sustainment planning, and logistics coordination
Excellent organization, communication, and analytical skills
Desire to grow into a managing complex software and hardware sustainment projects under the System Support Activity (SSA) Required Development Path (within 18 months):
Candidates must complete the following Defense Acquisition University (DAU) coursework within 18 months of hire:
PMT 0140 - Leading Projects and Teams
CLB 016 - Introduction to Earned Value Management
LOG 1000 - Life Cycle Logistics Fundamentals
PMT 2500 or 3500 - Applied Project Management (or equivalent per DoD guidelines) Preferred Certifications and Experience:
PMI-SP® (Scheduling Professional)
Microsoft Project Certification
PMP® (Project Management Professional)
Familiarity with Navy support systems, sustainment engineering, or technical refresh environments
Experience supporting defense programs, especially under a System Support Activity framework
