Design Engineering Manager (495153)

Will be responsible to design roofing and floor trusses for residential and commercial projects. Will act as project manager for commerical projects. Responsible to produce floor and roof truss placement plans, truss design drawings, and truss quotes using ability to understand blueprints and customer requirements for specific projects. Will determine design specifications based on blueprints and structural design needs. Will review other designers work as part of a double check system to reduce design errors prior to putting paperwork into manufacturing. Will create shop paperwork that is optimized and batch for efficiency based on equipment used in manufacturing. Responsible to communicate with customer and sales staff on technical aspects of plans which require clarification from customer, Architect or Engineer. Will document communication with said parties using excel spreadsheet and saved emails. Will plan and pace work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team-related productivity goals. Will understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers, attend periodic safety meeting as required, and recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

Requires 5 years of experience as a Design Engineering Manager or related, plus 5 years’ experience working to determine appropriate structural applications, drafting, architectural design, using CAD applications, reading and understanding blueprints and architectural drawings, and MiTek software. Also requires Mitek Saphire Truss Training Certificate, EWP Floor Training Session Certificate, Mitek 20/20 Perfect Vision Designer Computer Aided Component Design Certificate, and Mitek 20/20 Layout & Design 1010 Framing & Design Software Training Certificate.

BS in Mechanical Engineering or related.
