Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Programmer to join our precision machining team. This role requires extensive experience in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting complex CNC machines. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of CNC programming, setup techniques, and tooling, with a strong commitment to quality, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complete setups for CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machines based on engineering drawings, blueprints, and job travelers.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and CNC programs (G-code/M-code).
- Select, install, and align tooling, fixtures, and workpieces using precision measuring tools and equipment.
- Conduct first article inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Troubleshoot machine issues, tool wear, and dimensional deviations during production runs.
- Optimize machining parameters to maximize efficiency, tool life, and quality.
- Work closely with engineers, programmers, and quality control to resolve setup and machining challenges.
- Maintain proper documentation for setups, tool offsets, and production output.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, shop floor organization, and 5S practices.
- Train and mentor junior machinists or operators as needed.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training in machining is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC setup and operation in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, speeds & feeds, and cutting tool geometry.
- Excellent skills in using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, and CMMs.
- Ability to lift and position heavy workpieces and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multi-axis machining (4-axis/5-axis), Swiss lathes, or live tooling.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or Esprit.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma background.
Work Environment:
- Industrial manufacturing setting with moderate noise and occasional exposure to cutting fluids and lubricants.
- Requires standing, lifting, bending, and working with hands for extended periods.
