Infrastructure As Code Engineer

ROLE #4 – INFRASTRUCTURE AS CODE ENGINEER

POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Up to 1

The Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Engineer will support the design, development, and implementation of infrastructure components

with declarative code in standard-based IaC framework. This role will automate infrastructure deployment and management

processes to ensure compliance, scalability, and operational efficiency. DOE is currently using VMware Cloud Foundation Automation

and Saltstack products.

Key duties include:

• Design & Deployment: Design, develop, and maintain IaC scripts and blueprints for automated infrastructure deployment

and management. Support deployment processes, backup/archiving, and version alignment in multi datacenter deployments.

• Automation: Automate configuration management, workload and load balancer orchestration, environment provisioning,

and IaC validation.

• Documentation: Develop and document deployment playbooks, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Training & Knowledge Sharing: Train teams in IaC development, pipeline management, and automated testing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience:

o Minimum 3 years of experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

o Proficiency in DevOps/DevSecOps, including CI/CD, automation tools (Saltstack, Terraform, GitLab, Ansible), and

container orchestration.

o Expertise in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and tools for IaC execution and monitoring.

o Experience with security scanning, code optimization, and performance monitoring.

o Familiarity with cloud frameworks, RedHat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server, and network configurations (IPv4,

IPv6).

• Skills:

o Knowledge of software and OS hardening best practices (OWASP, CERT, STIG).

o Proficiency with virtualization tools.

o Strong communication skills.

o Mentoring and training experience.
