Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical oversight for the selection and deployment of smart meters (single-phase, three-phase, DT, and HT meters).
Ensure compliance of smart meters with applicable technical standards (IS 16444, DLMS/COSEM, BIS, CEA).
Review meter specifications, type test reports, and certifications.
Supervise factory inspections, sample testing, and acceptance procedures.
Monitor installation and commissioning of smart meters at consumer premises and grid interfaces.
Support end-to-end integration of smart meters with Head-End System (HES), Meter Data Acquisition System (MDAS), and Meter Data Management System (MDMS).
Evaluate performance of meters in the field – accuracy, communication, reliability, tamper detection, and data consistency.
Coordinate with vendors, field teams, and utility engineers for resolving technical issues.
Validate data acquisition, latency, event logging, and billing data generation.
Support in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FAQs, training materials, and field guides for utility staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering.
Minimum 8+ years of experience in metering, power distribution, or AMI projects.
Strong knowledge of smart meter hardware and firmware, communication protocols (DLMS/COSEM), and utility infrastructure.
Experience with large-scale smart meter rollouts, preferably under RDSS or similar schemes.
Familiarity with meter testing standards (IS/IEC), tamper detection mechanisms, and calibration procedures.
Skills & Competencies:
Technical expertise in smart meters, metering communication protocols, and data analytics.
Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and test reports.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination abilities.
