The Town of Brewster is currently seeking applications for the position of Laborer for the Department of Public Works. This position performs semi-skilled manual work supporting construction, general operation and maintenance, and repair projects undertaken by the DPW.

Under the general direction of the DPW Director and the direct supervisor of DPW Forman, the Laborer performs landscaping duties for all Town owned properties, including mowing, weed whacking, mulching, raking, pruning shrubs, and tree trimming. Also assists with general maintenance of the roadways including catch basin cleaning and asphalt repairs including cold patching. Participates in Public Works snow & ice operations. Operates a variety of equipment, hand tools and machinery. Position is subject to occasional mandatory overtime.

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year experience in grounds or roadway maintenance preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid driver’s license required. The Town provides training and advancement opportunities based on licensing. This is a full-time, year-round 40 hour a week position covered by the Service Employees International Union agreement with a pay range of $25.54 - $31.42 per hour, starting pay depending on qualifications and experience.
