Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Baggage Handling System Encoder / Jam Runner to join our client's team at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
This is a physically demanding position which requires on-the-job security training and the ability to receive all applicable airport security badges.
Responsibilities include:
Lifting luggage bags and placing them on and off of a conveyor belt.
Loading luggage carts when necessary.
Taking luggage bags back and forth to and from designated areas.
Unjamming the baggage system as needed.
Encode "misread" baggage and getting it to its correct location.
Take directions from Supervisors and Dispatchers and follow Airline directions for irregular operations.
Report any issues found that could potentially lead to additional system failures.
Must always be ready to help customers as needed.
Some light cleaning/maintenance duties involved.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
Must be able to lift up to up to 50 lbs consistently throughout the entire shift.
Must be able stand, stoop, bend, push, pull throughout entire shift.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to clear a drug screen and multiple background checks (including an extensive background check which includes 10 years of no convictions, misdemeanors, imprisonments, probation or parole. No convictions for assault, firearms or explosives, etc...)
Must be able to complete all required training including airport compliance.
Additional information:
Uniform shirt and airport badge will be provided by the company.
Employee parking is available at the old airport terminal.
Pay rate is $18.56 per hour.
Schedule: Friday to Tuesday - 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM (1/hr unpaid lunch break)
