Python Backend Engineer - OpenData

I’m working with my client to find a Full Stack Product Developer to join a collaborative engineering team building a new internal platform designed to improve how data is managed, curated, and maintained across the organisation.

This role offers the chance to shape key features from the ground up, working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-growing life sciences environment. You'll have full involvement across the development lifecycle, from planning through to deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop core functionality for a new internal data platform

Contribute to architectural discussions and technical direction

Tackle challenges involving large and complex datasets

Provide technical insight during feature planning and estimation

Help improve engineering workflows and practices

Requirements

4+ years of full-stack web development experience

Strong proficiency in Python (with frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask)

Solid understanding of SQL and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)

Familiar with modern software design patterns (e.g. MVC, microservices, layered architecture)

Hands-on problem solver with the ability to deliver end-to-end solutions
