Role Overview
We’re looking for a Commissioning Field Engineer to support ongoing construction and system startup activities for a mission-critical facility. This person will be the eyes and ears of the commissioning team onsite, working closely with vendors, contractors, and controls integrators to ensure systems are fully tested, documented, and turned over correctly.
The ideal candidate has a background in MEP systems, controls, or testing and enjoys being hands-on in the field with a proactive approach to issue resolution and system validation.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in daily site safety check-ins and attend GC-led toolbox talks
Lead or support daily Cx huddles with subcontractors, vendors, and controls teams
Review and adjust the commissioning micro-schedule based on site progress
Coordinate system readiness with trades (power, access, water, etc.)
Walk down systems and complete pre-functional checklists
Witness vendor-led equipment startups (UPS, chillers, ATS, fire pumps, etc.)
Monitor controls point-to-point (P2P) testing for accuracy and alarm logic
Execute or observe functional performance testing (FPT) and document results
Identify, log, and manage deficiencies through commissioning software tools
Review O&M manuals, startup sheets, and test documentation for completeness
Provide daily updates, participate in coordination meetings, and send summary reports
Requirements
8+ years experience in commissioning, field engineering, QA/QC, or MEP systems
Familiarity with mission-critical environments (data centers, labs, high-tech facilities)
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems operations
Proficiency with commissioning tools like Bluebeam, CxAlloy, Smartsheet, or Facility Grid
Experience using test equipment (multimeter, IR camera, flow meters) is a plus
Strong communication and documentation skills
