We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer in DevOps role, who is passionate about operational excellence through automation and engineering processes. As a DB DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless integration of development and operations processes, to deliver best in class and highly available systems. The main responsibilities for this position include: Design, implement and maintain database systems, with a focus on RDBMS, noSQL and newSQL technologies (e.g. Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra, Couchbase, mongoDB, Aerospike, CockroachDB) Proficient in AWS services including data stores e.g. RDS Oracle, Aurora Postgres, AWS CloudFormation, EC2, EBS, S3, Route53, IAM, KMS Expand the capacity and performance of systems and data stores persistence layer Analyze and evaluate the DB technology options/feasibility and define the design, architecture, delivery, and deployment pipeline Provide leadership in implementing a secure, robust and highly available DevOps pipeline for data stores e.g. data refresh across environments, DB deployments Automate build & deployment processes for data stores Work closely with engineers, QA, project managers throughout the software lifecycle in optimally delivering outstanding, large scale systems Implement push button deployment at scale with zero downtime for infrastructure stack including Data stores
BS degree in computer science or equivalent field with 5+ years experience
Successful track-record and proven expertise as a Data Store engineer having proficiency
with Relational and NoSQL/NewSQL DB technologies
Successful track-record and proven experience of leading projects from design/
architecture/build/release/deployment automation to production launch, along with
Operations
Good technical understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL data stores e.g. architecture,
clusters management, data replication, conflict handling, query language, and
performance
Must have good oral/written communication skills and work in collaboration with cross
functional teams and stakeholders
Experience handling performance issues and tuning of data stores and database queries
Understanding of database security concepts e.g. Certificates, SSL, TLS, mTLS, SQL
injection, TCP/TCPS,
Utilize AWS services for effective database management and optimization
In-depth understanding go CloudWatch metrics e.g. CPU, IOPS, Read/Write latency,
Read/Write throughput,
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
