Description:

We are looking for an individual with a deep understanding of battery behavior and characterization techniques both from design and application perspectives. In this position you will be expected to use a combination of electrochemical and electrical engineering knowledge to: - Develop tools and techniques to benchmark next generation battery materials and designs for product integration - Develop battery characterization protocols to calibrate next generation battery algorithms - Apply machine learning and other strategies to battery testing and field data to forecast future and corner case battery algorithm and model performance - Develop procedures to determine performance of battery longevity, power delivery, and thermal behavior in system - Requires hands on lab work and bench testing in addition to data mining and computing

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

Experience with battery cycling equipment such as Maccor, Arbin, Bio-logic

MS or higher in technical discipline with relevant experience is preferred

Strong background in electrochemistry with understanding of Li-battery performance characterization and analysis such as fast-charge protocol development, identifying and predicting degradation mechanisms, impedance modeling

Experience with Matlab or Python for large scale data mining and processing

Experience with cell R&D techniques such as 3-electrode and symmetric cell is a plus

Experience with and understanding of battery algorithm design, battery gauging, and system power management is preferred

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $141,800 and $258,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
