Description
Purchasing Agents are responsible for procurement of goods, quality compliance and inventory management.
Responsibilities:
Manages supply chain risks
Builds long-term, collaborative relationships with preferred suppliers
Procures customized items
Evaluates supplier quotes and services
Evaluates supplier performance
Identifies qualified vendors for difficult to source items
Evaluates cost savings opportunities and presents findings
Evaluates forecasts to maintain desired inventory levels
Prepares, issues, and maintains purchase orders for timely delivery
Executes inventory replenishment requests
Maintains factory shortage report
Assists in the investigation of non-conforming materials and takes corrective action
Assists in the reconciliation of receiving/invoicing/billing discrepancies
Coordinates the return of non-conforming material
Maintains procurement records, including ERP data and notations
Helps streamline and automate procurement and purchasing processes
Represents the Purchasing Team on special project teams or task forces
Other purchasing duties as assigned
Requirements
Skills:
Extensive knowledge of purchasing concepts, practices and procedures
Ability to set procurement strategies and set goals
Knowledge of purchasing system software and inventory management systems
Ability to understand engineering drawings, budgets and contract language
Strong negotiation and customer service skills
Ability to review, analyze, and interpret various reports
Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing; technical writing a plus
Ability to work professionally in team environment and with other departmental teams
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to develop spreadsheets, databases, presentations, reports, charts, graphs using computer software
Must be able to work independently with minimal direction and oversight
High ethical standards
High attention to detail
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in vendor qualification for customized or made to specification items required
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, mathematics, economics, or related field preferred
Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in an MRP environment, electronics or technical industry a plus
Experience in lean or six sigma process improvement preferred
Experience in motion control industrial purchasing preferred
Purchasing agent certification is a plus
Job Detail:
