General Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Educational Sign Language Interpreter facilitates communication and assists teachers in the classroom. The Educational Sign Language Interpreter works independently to provide educational sign language interpreter services to students with hearing impairments within the school and home environment. Salary: Salary: The full salary range for this position is $29.44 - $35.82 per hour.*Offers are made at the beginning of the range. *Beginning September 1, 2025, the range will be $30.18 - $36.72 per hour. Offers are made at the beginning of the range. Assignment/Location: This position is 32 hrs/wk, school year schedule, with hours over the summer to support extended school year, starting July 14, 2025. It will serve Quest Academy in Longview, WA. Essential Functions/Other Functions Essential Functions:

Interpret lectures, discussions, tests, films, assemblies and student comments in all school related settings.

Interpret communications between hearing, deaf and hard of hearing students, parents and/or staff members in the classroom, at conferences, IEP meetings and other school activities.

Assist certificated and classified staff to implement programs for students with hearing impairments.

Work as a resource specialist with hearing impaired students and their teachers to develop language, articulation and academic skills within the school and home environment.

Supervise students.

Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars. Other Functions:

Other duties as assigned. Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

Must meet one of the following within one calendar year of employment:

Pass the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a minimum score of 4.0 and the EIPA written test with a passing score; OR

hold National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and the EIPA written test with a passing score. Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Experience as an interpreter in an educational setting.

Knowledge of programs and services for individuals with disabilities. Working Conditions/Employment Requirements Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Classroom setting.

Sufficient physical stamina and agility to perform sign language functions continuously through workday.

Regular attendance during scheduled work hours. Employment Requirements:

Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
