The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking an intern to provide support for its transit projects and contribute to small transit provider efforts for transportation projects and programs. Ideal candidates should attend school in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and be able to work at least 20 hours per week
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Working with supervisor, to coordinate, implement, and manage short-term transit-related projects
Working with supervisor, and partner agencies to streamline project invoices and other project-specific documents to ensure project commitments are met
Assisting with research and identification of eligible funding sources to support transit project expenses
Assisting with maintaining organized documentation and records and administrative tasks, and supporting file management systems
Working with supervisor, to develop bus rolling stock specifications to support the needs of rural and urban public transportation providers
Assisting with the facilitation of partnerships between regional transit providers and partners
Working with supervisor, to develop safety programs for transit providers
Working with supervisor, to implement transit-focused strategies outlined in Access North Texas
Required Skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
Good communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas
Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Required Education and Experience
Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree seeking program during employment

Starting Salary
Minimum of $17.00 per hour

The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant and Wise.
