Job Summary:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working independently and collaboratively with department managers to coordinate the orientation process and provide in the department education of new equipment, products, and processes. Develop and provide department educational programs regarding proper decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization methods. Create and evaluate skills and competency of Sterile Processing technicians; adhering to the governing agencies' guidelines and standards. Act as a resource, liaison, employee educator to the nursing units and ancillary departments that utilize the Sterile Processing Department.
Minimum Education
Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training Minimum Work Experience
Two years Sterile Processing or Operating Room experience Required Licenses/Certifications
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Central Supply Processing Department Tech (CSPDT), Certified Surgical Technician (CST) required. Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) within 12 months of hire date. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Ability to organize and complete educational requirements according to facility and governing agency requirements

Essential Functions
Demonstrates a consistent adherence to company policies and procedures related to attendance and tardiness, professional appearance, corporate compliance, and applicable legal requirements.
Communicates using the components of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You).
Act as a clinical resource for sterile processing and "case pulling" personnel using professional guidelines and evidence-based standards.
Coordinate the orientation process through an active involvement with orientee and preceptor
Assess progress of orientation by follow-up with orientee and preceptor.
Develop and provide education and competency verification activities for sterile processing personnel regarding professional guidelines, recommended practices and regulatory and accreditation standards pertinent to sterile processing services.
Assist with performance improvement projects and reports as requested
Collaborate with other departments to meet the needs of the Sterile Processing Department and improve patient and facility outcomes.
Foster growth of Sterile Processing Department staff through mentoring.
Collaborate with department managers to foster department growth, identify educational needs, and develop plans related to process improvement.
Exhibit professional interpersonal and communication skills.
Monitor productivity and quality of product of individuals utilizing proactive observational and hand-on approaches.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
