JOB CONTEXT:
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with a strong security mindset to join our technology team within the insurance industry. This role is crucial in driving secure infrastructure automation, enhancing platform resilience, and supporting secure modern application deployments. Youll work at the intersection of DevOps and security (DevSecOps), ensuring that security is embedded across all stages of the software development lifecycle.You will bring hands-on experience with Nutanix Calm, Kubernetes, and Docker, with complementary skills in Microsoft technologies, SQL Server, and security automation practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and manage automated blueprints and runbooks using Nutanix Calm.
Build and secure Kubernetes clusters for container orchestration and microservices.
Develop and harden Docker containers with security best practices (e.g., minimal images, signed images, vulnerability scanning).
Integrate DevSecOps principles into CI/CD pipelines to shift security left.
Automate security controls and compliance checks using tools like Fortinet, Trivy, or SkyFlow.
Collaborate with development and security teams to embed policy-as-code, secret management, and role-based access controls.
Ensure secure configuration of infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
Monitor and alert for anomalies using Zabbix, complemented by logs and audit trails.
Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, and SQL Server with attention to patching, access control, and backup security.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and secure backup strategies.
Support incident response, vulnerability remediation, and compliance audits.Experience And Skills Requirements:
Honours degree in information technology, information systems, computer science or related fields.
35 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or security-driven infrastructure automation
Practical knowledge of Nutanix Calm and Prism Central
Proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, and container security
Familiarity with DevSecOps tooling and practices (e.g., dependency scanning, static analysis)
Scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python
Experience with CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins with security gates
Understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL Server, and basic networking
Hands-on experience with monitoring and alerting tools like Zabbix
Basic network troubleshooting; CCNA is advantageous.Soft Skills:

Nutanix NCP or Calm certification.
Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi.
Exposure to cloud security in Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments.
Awareness of container runtime protection and zero trust architectures.
Experience working in regulated industries such as insurance or finance.
Familiarity with IS27001, NIST CSF, or other security frameworks.
