Scope of Position

To further develop the air and ocean import product in the marketplace through focus on Operations, Finances, Sales, People, Systems, and Culture in adherence to the company’s policy and procedures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Operations

Create and maintain an effective department organization chart, which is designed for flexibility and growth.

Work with operations management on capacity, efficiency issues and status of the team.

Monitor and improve key departmental productivity indicators.

Stay current with developments and changes in regulations and company offerings

Have thorough knowledge of the Air and Ocean Import product.

Plan and support with huddles and monthly meetings to discuss market intelligence and delegate workloads within the team.

Attend the weekly branch Sales meeting and facilitate discussions on Ocean Import with market updates and trends.

Take an active role in the transition of new business/ updates to existing business

Finance

Review department P&L on a monthly basis and understand composition of clients, revenue per account

Grow department Revenue in line with District budget target and management expectations.

Preparation of annual department budget and execution to it

Ensure company credit procedures are followed and utilized effectively

Ensure accounting exceptions are cleared timely

People

Create a culture of teamwork, elite customers service and accountability

Conduct timely and effective annual reviews along with development plans for the team

Prepare, execute and communicate department tactical business plan and goals

Ensure all staff and positions have job descriptions, clear expectations and are working with structured development plans

Mentor and develop

Compliance

Promote compliance by diligently following all company policies, regulations and in being the role model of integrity and pride for all employees

Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations

Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and training

Customer

Maintain a healthy sales pipeline by driving the development of new business opportunities

Ensure customer requirements are documented and understood within the department

Ensure customer reviews and scorecards are completed and updated in CRM

Communicate clearly and often with sales, AM on market demands and department statusQualifications

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience leading teams

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Excellent written and verbal communication

Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills

Experience and familiarity with Departmental Profit and Loss Statements

Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday

Strong market and competition knowledge

Strong organizational skills

Analytical with attention to detail

Effective interpersonal skills

Willingness to contribute to ad hoc projects and assist team members

Ability and desire to learn new software and technologies
