Position: Mid-Level Java Developer
Location: Colorado Springs, CO (Hybrid)
Clearance Required: Secret (with willingness to obtain Top Secret / SCI)
Launch your career into orbit with Omitron. We’re seeking a talented Mid-Level Java Developer to join our team at the cutting edge of U.S. space domain awareness. This is a rare opportunity to work side by side with experienced engineers and scientists as we build the next generation of systems that track the 40,000 objects in Earth orbit.
In this role, you’ll contribute to scalable, cloud-integrated software solutions that support every phase of tracking a satellite, from launch to reentry. You'll join a mission-driven team working at the intersection of aerospace and national security, collaborating across roles and organizations to ensure high-performance, resilient systems. This position specifically will support the development of a Test, Training, and Exercise application which will provide scenario generation and management for existing software applications.
Note: This position is currently designated as primarily remote with the requirement to support on-site in Colorado Springs as needed for software test, deployment, and problem resolution.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop full-stack software in Java with a strong focus on object-oriented programming
Support Agile development cycles by planning and executing efficient software packages
Collaborate across teams to create functional scenario generation and management capabilities for existing applications and data flows
Learn space domain awareness (SDA) fundamentals and how code enables mission success
Work directly with senior developers, engineers, and mission analysts
Brief program management on technical progress and satellite safety system development
Thrive in a fast-paced operational environment with shifting prioritiesRequired Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship
Active Secret security clearance
Willingness to attain Top Secret / SCI clearance
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline + 6 years of Java experience
(or 10+ years of experience without a degree)
Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD best practices
Exposure to Test Automation Frameworks and Test-Driven DevelopmentPreferred (Not Required) Qualifications
Oracle Java Certification or equivalent
Kubernetes Certification (CKAD or similar)
Red Hat Linux experience
Proficiency with GitLab, Maven, Jenkins
Familiarity with front-end technologies (Angular, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, AJAX)
Experience with Jira, Confluence, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $125,000 to $150,000, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
