The City of Tomball is accepting applications for a Part-time Bailiff. This position will be responsible for ensuring safety and maintaining order within the courtroom during municipal court sessions. Apart from providing courtroom security, this role extends to various tasks like prisoner transportation, conducting background investigations for police applicants, assisting court clerks, and handling certain administrative duties related to court documentation. Serves as a liaison between the court and the Police Department, filling in for the Patrol Division when required.

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
Education HS_GED
Experience Minimum of 2 years previous relevant work experience is required.
Certifications Court Security Certification.
Licensing Peace Officer License, Driver's License.
Bailiff functions include but are not limited to the following.
Courtroom Security: Provide a consistent police presence during court sessions to maintain safety and order. Handle and defuse any disruptions or disturbances that may occur during court proceedings.
Document Management: Ensure all courtroom paperwork, especially those requiring signatures, are completed accurately and promptly. Sign all affidavits and other court-related documents as needed.
Prisoner Transport: Safely transport prisoners from the department's facility to the designated County Jail.
Backup for Patrol Division: Provide support and fill in for the Patrol Division as and when necessary.
Background Investigations: Conduct thorough background checks and investigations for prospective Police Department applicants.
Court Clerical Assistance: Assist court clerks in updating and maintaining accurate records, including updating addresses and phone numbers of defendants.
City Banking Duties: Handle city bank deposits, ensuring funds are deposited securely and promptly.
Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

Basic equipment issued to police officers, hand gun, handcuffs, taser, baton oc spray, Body worn cameras, metal detector, computer programs.

SALARY:
Hiring Range: $29.70 - $31.19
Salary Range: $29.70- $44.55
Not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year
