Senior Engineer

TITLE: Senior Engineer

DUTIES: We seek a Senior Engineer based out of our office at 4554 Glenmeade Lane, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this position does not require travel.

Lead project activities in mechanical and / or thermal design in battery pack and power electronics engineering for e-mobility applications; Develop mechanical packaging for various cell formats (cylindrical, prismatic, pouch); Develop Mechanical packaging for various pack components (modules, busbars, wiring, connectors, control modules, cold plates, cooling hoses); Conduct mechanical design and vehicle integration of power electronic enclosures and / or thermal systems, including implementation of sealing and venting strategies; Perform design activities such as: module design and development (cell mounting, spacing, connecting, cooling, mechanical / structural design (durability, crash, light weighting), integration of electrical systems and components (fuses, contactors, wiring), and cooling system design for thermal management; Interface with suppliers to execute supplier quality processes such as PPAP; Provide BOM management / reporting; Conduct change management; Create documentation and reports; Create 2D drawings based on parametric CAD models per ANSI and ISO standards; Develop datum strategies, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), Stack up Analysis, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Assemblyl Work closely with and lead cross functional team members (vehicle, modeling and simulation, software, functional safety); Communicate project progress to leadership and manage project risks; Prepare for and participate in formal and informal design review activities; Coordinate design activities with global partners.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related engineering field and 48 months of experience in job offered or related position in mechanical packaging of systems.

Required experience must include: Experience with manufacturing methods and GD&T; Experience with electrical packaging and sealing best practices; Experience with HV battery pack mechanical design; Experience with product design process; Experience conducting creepage / clearance studies and tolerance stacks; Experience with battery pack thermal management system design; Experience with 1D Thermal modelling and flow analysis; Experience with project management.
