Job Summary

The County of San Diego has a current opening for Program Manager, General Services.

This position may have a teleworking and/or flexible schedule available after an initial training period.

Interviews will take place the week of August 18th, 2025, and JOB OFFERs will be made the week September 1st, 2025.

The Program Manager, General Services, will be responsible for the planning, management, and oversight of Fleet Services operational and administrative activities within the maintenance, acquisitions, and contracts/compliance sections of the Fleet Services Division. This is accomplished through managing a team of Fleet Support Specialists within each section. This position will also have responsibility for coordinating workflow analysis and completing continuous improvement efforts to ensure quality services delivery. This role will oversee the establishment of work standards and operational objectives for the relevant sections of the Fleet Services Division. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

Manage, plan, coordinate, and review Fleet Services administrative/operational activities as assigned.

Maintain and update all Fleet Services workflow processes as needed.

Oversee the establishment of work standards and operational objectives.

Manage direct report fleet support staff and review and coordinate workflow.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in business, public administration or related field and at least two years of program management experience. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of advanced principles, concepts and methodology of a professional/administrative field acquired through substantial work experience or additional study at a graduate level.

Interview and Hiring dates

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below:

Interviews, Job Offers and Background Process begin in August 2025. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.

Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.

Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A master's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in business public administration, or a closely related field; AND, four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience managing a service delivery program which included budget/fiscal accounting and operational program planning/analysis; OR

2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in the fields stated above; AND, five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience as described above.

Condition of Employment
