This role is integral to advancing NASA’s strategic objective to optimize mission and business operations through intelligent process automation.

The ideal candidate is technically proficient, forward-thinking, and highly collaborative—capable of delivering automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual workloads, and support NASA’s continued leadership in space exploration, research, and innovation. Candidates should have a strong foundation in software development, practical experience with RPA platforms (UiPath, Microsoft Power Automate), and a familiarity with federal security, compliance, and development practices.

Key Responsibilities

Develop bots using UiPath and Microsoft Power Automate (Power Platform), ensuring compliance with NASA IT governance and security protocols.

Collaborate with NASA stakeholders, Business Analysts, and Process Owners to assess feasibility and define automation requirements.

Create and maintain technical documentation including Solution Description Documents (SDDs), deployment guides, and support materials aligned with NASA’s system development documentation standards.

Ensure quality and stability of deployed bots by supporting troubleshooting, updates, and ongoing performance improvements.

Adhere to established configuration management, version control, and DevSecOps practices.

Participate in peer code reviews, technical design reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement within the RPA development lifecycle.

Work closely with cross-functional teams including cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and mission IT groups to ensure compliant and resilient automation deployments.Disclaimer "The responsibilities and duties outlined in this job description are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this role. U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a NASA Public Trust clearance (mandatory).

Minimum of 3 years of experience in object-oriented software development (e.g., C#, Java, Python).

Demonstrated experience developing RPA bots using UiPath and/or Microsoft Power Automate within the Power Platform.

Strong understanding of version control (e.g., Git) and structured SDLC processes.

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven, and highly secure environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when interfacing with federal stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

UiPath Advanced Developer Certification and/or Microsoft Power Platform certifications (PL-900, PL-100, PL-500).

Experience automating federal business processes, such as financial reconciliation, procurement, HR onboarding, or grants management.

Familiarity with NASA IT standards, NIST cybersecurity controls (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP), and cloud environments (Azure Government or AWS GovCloud).

Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma or ITIL.

Prior experience supporting automation projects within NASA or other federal science/technology agencies.
