The ideal Material Handler will safely unload and move materials within or near plant using propane sit down forklift machine. Inspect, clean and maintain equipment assigned to. Follow safety procedures for lock out and tag out of trailers and equipment Move Bales, containers, bags, boxes, and hoppers to and from production lines. Counts, inspects and receives material on incoming bale and flake loads. Record number of bales, bags, or boxes inputted on to the line. Loads trucks with bales, bags, or boxes as needed. Shovels loose material such as bottles, labels, flakes, sand, gravel, metals, or plastics from warehouse location into containers or hoppers. Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Clean floor and house keeps within the process of material handling in the assigned area. Helps with cleaning and housekeeping of equipment for customer tours or when downtime has occurred. Runs Bale breaking clamp truck and feeds bale wires into chopping machine while wearing PPE required for Safety. Help with water containment on floor when required. All other duties assigned. Skills & Ability: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to work 12 hour shifts (7-7:30) & a schedule cycle of week 1: 2 days on, 3 days off, 2 days on & week 2: 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off. Prior Hi-Lo experience preferred. Lifting Requirements: 0-50 lbs Constant: Driving of forklift and/or move up to 15 lbs. Frequent: on and off forklift, sit, stand and walk up to 12 hours per day. Lift of move up to 50 lbs. Environment: exposed to high levels of noise, recyclable debris and small. Able to visibly examine minute defects in parts and product Must be able to reach overhead, bend down and work on ladders periodically as needed. Must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment: eye, ear, head, toe protection, high visibility safety vest, and hand protection as needed. Must wear safety harness on occasion. We enjoy 15 scheduled work days per month thru our 12-hour shifts.
