Job Summary
Responsible for leading the analysis and business interpretation of data while developing actionable insights and recommendations for high-value challenges across the company. This work includes leading discussions with stakeholders to identify data-driven value opportunities. Conceives and directs the development of predictive and prescriptive systems that optimize operations and support strategic initiatives using cutting-edge information technology and data science methods Designs and delivers clear messaging using visualization methods to support management decision-making. Provides mentorship to junior data scientists on technical methodology and business acumen. Influences the data science team's strategic direction, including decisions about developing capabilities and infrastructure to support future AEP needs and opportunities.
Job Description
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Directs the development of advanced analytical tools to solve high-value business problems across AEP. Applies advanced knowledge and experience to direct the development of predictive and prescriptive systems taking advantage of AEP data to generate value.
Proficiently utilize analytical tools and data management skills to provide actionable business intelligence.
Maintains business knowledge across the organization and utilize knowledge to develop and direct meaningful studies.Participates in industry functions to keep abreast of industry practices and enhance AEP's industry reputation.
Maintain an ongoing collaborative relationship with business partners.
Evaluate business partner needs and provide guidance on the value data analyses can provide.Develop data-driven methods that effectively communicate evidence of business unit value achieved from studies.Perform economic evaluations of analytic studies.
Direct development of concise, meaningful written reports and provide an oral presentation of information.Track study progress and provide management with study status reports.
Provide input to strategic direction for ongoing analytic processes, tools, and organizational structure.Evaluate organization effectiveness and new analytic technologies.Develop and present recommendations for strategic direction to management.
Provide direction and oversight to third-party business partners for outsourced studies. May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree in mathematics, operations research, statistics, economics, data science, computer science or related technical field is required.
Experience: eight (8) years of experience required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient and able to direct the use of analytics packages, such as Python and R. Understands database concepts and is able to provide clear direction to staff assigned to manage data for analytics use cases.
Established leader working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
Base Salary: $113,000 - $146,000
