About the Company

About the Role

Network Engineer III

FLSA Status: Exempt

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: Designs, implements, monitors, and manages local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), ensuring maximum performance and security for users and services. Strong background in network infrastructure, troubleshooting, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN).

Configure and install network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs.

Continuously monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively recommend solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve network issues and outages.

Implement security measures, such as firewalls and access controls, to safeguard data and infrastructure.

Maintain and update network documentation and diagrams.

Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to optimize network performance and security.

Provide technical support and guidance to users and IT support teams.

Lead and mentor junior network engineers, providing technical guidance and support.

Stay up to date with the latest networking technologies and practices.

Manage and maintain metropolitan fiber optic network infrastructure.

Plan, configure, and optimize network hardware and software to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

5+ years’ experience as an Enterprise Network Engineer or similar role.

Industry certifications are preferred.

Required Skills

In-depth understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).

Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar network hardware.

Familiarity with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds).

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Strong background with fiber optic management.

Strong experience with enterprise-level networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers).

Hands-on experience with networking technologies such as MPLS, VPN, SD-WAN, and QoS.
