About the Company

Fauquier County, Virginia is approximately 40 miles from Washington, DC and 80 miles from Richmond, the state capital. Fauquier County encompasses a land area of approximately 650 square miles and is bordered by the counties of Prince William, Stafford, Culpeper, Warren, Clarke, Loudoun, and Rappahannock. Because of its proximity to Washington, DC, the county has experienced consistent population growth rates over the past 10 years and is currently home to around 68,000 residents.

About the Role

Under limited supervision, the IT Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technology projects across all departments of the County. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating teams, managing timelines and budgets, and ensuring successful implementation of IT solutions that align with business goals.

Responsibilities

Provides project coordination for County departments engaged in IT implementations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of services delivered.

Provides oversight and facilitates communication and collaboration between all parties involved.

Lead the full project lifecycle for IT initiatives—from concept through deployment and support.

Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.

Develop detailed project plans, resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.

Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques.

Leads project teams, and coordinates work efforts between County technical resources, stakeholders, and vendors.

Facilitates communication and collaboration between all parties.

Set timelines and priorities; coordinate delivery of technology services and solutions.

Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Ensure that chosen solution and vendors can perform work and deliver services within financial constraints.

Identify potential risks, constraints, and liabilities before and during implementations; adapt work plans accordingly.

Ensure compliance with IT governance, security protocols, and best practices.

Provide reporting, support, and feedback to IT and County leadership as required.

Performs related tasks as required.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, plus 5 years of project management experience. Project Management certification is a plus.

Required Skills

Candidate must be familiar and compliant with privacy and confidentiality guidelines such as PCI, PHI, PII, and CJIS.

Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies, such as MS Project and Agile/SCRUM, is required.

Must be skilled in the use of MS Office Suite, SharePoint, and collaboration tools such as MS Teams.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills

Project Management certification is a plus.
