Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Learning Commons Director in the Academic and Instructional Support Department. The work schedule is typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. with occasional weekend and evening hours. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 35 position located in Rockville, MD. One (1) day of telework may be granted based on the needs of the unit.

The Learning Commons Director will provide strategic leadership, unify academic support services, and ensure a seamless, integrated experience for students. The incumbent will oversee all learning centers and ATPA, fostering a holistic network that addresses tutoring, academic coaching, and work-shopping. This centralized role allows for better alignment with the College’s strategic priorities, ensuring that academic support initiatives directly contribute to institutional goals for access, inclusion, retention, equitable student success, and degree completion.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Provide overall management and leadership of all learning centers and ATPA, and supervision of all learning center managers and ATPA director.

Develop and deliver initiatives that align with the College’s goals for academic excellence, particularly those that focus on equity, inclusion, and student success.

Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of learning center services and ATPA services through data-driven assessment.

Develop and maintain strong partnerships with various departments across the College to promote awareness and utilization of learning centers and ATPA.

Manage the budget, including resource allocation and fiscal planning.

Ensure proper staffing, scheduling, and operational efficiency of learning centers and ATPA, including the maintenance of physical and virtual learning centers and ATPA spaces to create a conducive environment for academic support.

Keep current on best practices and trends in academic support services, such as tutoring, academic coaching, and workshops.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree.

Five to six years of experience in academic support and/or tutoring.

Experience managing or supervising staff.

The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Demonstrated experience in budget/resource management.

Preferred Qualifications

Five (5) plus years in a supervisory/management role

Hiring Range: $99,623-$136,981 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $174,340.
