Engineering Controls Manager – Remote Opportunity

Join our team as an Engineering Controls Manager and take the lead in driving innovation, reliability, and efficiency across our plant control systems. This multi-site role is vital to ensuring smooth operations and continuous improvement in production environments. You'll guide a talented controls engineering team through complex projects and lead capital initiatives that shape the future of our AR BMM and Wheel Rebuild programs.
As the Engineering Controls Manager, your focus will be:
Lead the Engineering Controls Group, providing expertise in PLCs and HMIs.
Manage and implement capital and EIC projects from design through startup.
Troubleshoot control systems and mentor maintenance staff in problem-solving techniques.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance process efficiency.
Drive improvements in equipment uptime, reliability, and process control.
Oversee vendors, engineering firms, and construction partners to ensure quality and compliance.
Support control system upgrades, documentation, and compliance initiatives.
Be a technical resource for all electrical systems including drives, robotics, instrumentation, and controls.
Develop and maintain plant standards for controls architecture and safety.
Skills you’ll need to be considered for this position:
Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams
Familiarity with Arc Flash compliance, NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards
Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 5S Knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) systems
Hands-on experience with flow, temperature, pressure, and pH instrumentation
Experience with CAPEX projects of various sizes
Minimum requirements for this Engineering Controls Manager position:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering or very related field
At least 10 years of industrial controls experience in engineering, operations, or project management in a plastics, packaging or other high speed manufacturing plant
Strong experience with Allen Bradley / Rockwall PLC/HMI systems
Uniloy or HDPE experience a must
Solid understanding of process instrumentation, industrial networks (Ethernet/IP), and power systems.
