Fractional Controller – Oil & Gas Focus

GJ & Company, LLC is a dynamic and growing accounting firm with deep roots in the energy sector. We provide high-quality financial and advisory services to businesses in the oil and gas industry, including upstream operators, midstream companies, and oil field service providers. We are seeking an experienced controller to join our team and support our clients with financial leadership and industry-specific insight.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide financial oversight across client accounting functions, including month-end close, budgeting, and forecasting

Ensure accurate and timely financial statement preparation

Assist with audit preparation and accounting policy implementation

Serve as a strategic advisor to client leadership, offering insight to improve financial decision-making and streamline accounting processes

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Minimum 5 years of relevant controller level experience

Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills

Prior experience in a fractional or consulting role is a plus

Preferred Experience with:

Oil and gas accounting software (e.g., Wolfepak, Enertia, etc.)

Revenue recognition and expense allocation in upstream operations

Joint interest billing (JIB), production accounting, and asset retirement obligations
