D&M Holding Inc. CNC Machinist – Prototype Machine Shop
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to support precision fabrication and prototyping. The ideal candidate has a strong background in CNC machining and is eager to contribute to a highly technical shop working on complex and tight-tolerance components.
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines to fabricate high-precision metal components for aerospace prototypes and tooling
Read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications
Perform precision measurements and quality checks using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other metrology tools
Work closely with engineering teams to machine one-off and small-batch parts for development and test hardware
Troubleshoot machining challenges, apply problem-solving skills to ensure dimensional accuracy and reduce scrap
Collaborate with CNC programmers and operators to support hybrid machining operations when transitioning from manual to CNC setups
Maintain equipment and participate in preventive maintenance activities to ensure machine reliability
Deburr and finish parts on-machine when possible to reduce rework and improve workflow efficiency
Follow shop safety procedures, 5S, and contribute to a clean and organized work environment
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of experience operating manual lathes and milling machines in a high-precision environment
Demonstrated ability to machine complex components to tight tolerances
Proficient in reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T symbols
Skilled in machining a wide range of metals including steel, stainless, aluminum, and alloy materials
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to CNC environments and willingness to learn multi-axis CNC operation and programming
Experience on DMG Mori and HAAS CNC Machines
Familiarity with prototype workflows and quick-turn part manufacturing
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for extended periods
Availability for overtime and weekend shifts as needed
Comfortable working in a noisy, hands-on machine shop environment
