Cloud Database Architect

Duties: Work with Business Units to gather design criteria, prioritize requirements, assist with the development of data structure, evaluate and provide recommendations on new database technologies and architecture, refine the physical design to meet system storage requirements, defining access permissions and privileges, and plan and perform data migration.

Design systems that best utilize cloud technologies required by the applications and optimize the cost.

Design and build data model to include tables and views, and become knowledgeable of the data and relationship between data items.

Develop strategies for disaster recovery, data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of databases.

Interface with Business Stakeholders on all complex projects, present ideas and take charge of projects and update management on all escalated issues.

Interact with the development team and provide expert technical guidance on products as well as IT infrastructure.

Provide recommendations on latest architecture technologies, and resource, financial, and capacity planning.

Advise on hardware upgrades, software upgrades, product releases, configuring, troubleshooting, debugging, and testing with other IT departments and development teams.

Participate in resource management including employee evaluation.

Establish and document data standards, procedures, and definition for the data dictionaries (metadata), and disaster recovery procedures.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

Telecommuting is permitted.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field plus 4 years of related experience.

Requires 4 years of experience in the following: -Database management systems; -24x7 enterprise platform; -Conceptual design of planned databases and refining the logical design for translation into a physical data model to include both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users; -Managing databases in a cloud environment with a focus on designing the environment for cost optimization in AWS; -At least one of the following: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elastic; -Backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, clustering, database mirroring, and replication; and -Kanban or Scrum.

Telecommuting is permitted $138,861 to $160,000 per year.

Must also have authority to work permanently in the U.S.
