Independently owned and operated, The Jefferson in Washington D.C. is currently recruiting for a Security Manager, an excellent employment opportunity for the truly exceptional candidate who possesses a natural flair for hospitality and a strong commitment to excellence.
A candidate for the position of Security Manager must be knowledgeable of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations for the overall hotel guest and employees. They are required to manage the Security Officers and provide them with guidance and direction in all matters. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
The Security Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to;
Advise senior management promptly of all potential sources of risks and accidental loss.
Investigate accidents, thefts, property loss and unlawful activities.
Review investigation and incident reports with senior management as necessary.
Conduct frequent front and or back of house and exterior of property walk through for inspection purposes.
Responsible for overseeing security at other local assets and being responsive as situations dictate.
Review all Security Standard Operating Procedures at least once annually and update and as necessary.
Ensure Hotel's compliance with OSHA standards and ensure proper record-keeping.
Ability to manage a staff of security personnel and hold them accountable.
Arrange with external sources to provide necessary internal training including but not limited to: OSHA Compliance, First Aid, Fire Safety, CPR, etc.
Responsible for enforcing Lost and Found procedures and safekeeping of valuables.
Interface with all regulatory agencies as appropriate and ensure compliance with State and Governmental laws relating to safety and security.
Responsible to manage first aid supplies.
Ability to operate and maintain the property’s electronic key control system.
Monitor to ensure functionality in all hotel's Life Safety and Security systems including but not limited to: Fire Panel, Key System, employee Key/Badge access control system, Safe and CCTV system.
Liaise with guests and clients on security matters and communicate accordingly.
Train Security staff to comply with all responsibilities outlined in job description.
Ability to read, write and speak English.
Position regularly involves lifting items weighting up to 50 lbs.
Strong guest service experience
Ability to work well and maintain organization in a fast paced environment
Ability to cover MOD shifts.
Additional preferred experience includes a minimum of five years of Police Patrol Officer or similar experience, full awareness of ADA standards, full knowledge of local laws, investigative methods and fire safety procedures.
Qualifications include;
Previous relevant Security/Risk management experience, preferably in a luxury Hotel.
Ability to obtain a license as a Special Police Officer.
