This position will lead and be responsible for all deliverables related to the Enology Extension FY26-27 project, sponsored by the Ohio Grape Industries Committee. Individual will be expected to conduct collaborate research with viticulture and enology faculty and procure additional enology/viticulture research and extension and funding through collaboration with the HCS viticulturalist and FDSC fermentation specialist, responsible for managing the statewide Enology research and education program, including developing training and materials, and working with wine makers across the entire state of Ohio. This position reports to the Chair of the Horticulture and Crop Sciences Department.

Teaching

Develops and executes enology educational programs to support those within the Ohio Wine Industry. This includes workshops, on-site visits, coordinating and hosting harvest meetings and field days by selecting speakers, organizing the program and making on-site presentations throughout the state.

Management

Responsible for managing the Enology program including assisting with grant proposals and acquisition of external support from the state of Ohio wine industry for the program. Collaborates with other stakeholders in the state and liaisons with the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Assists in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses. The position collaborates with the viticulture and fermentation specialist PI's.

Research and Resources

Plan, coordinate, and conduct enology research, analyze data, evaluate research findings and prepare appropriate reports, as well as supervise vinification; prepare proposals and reports for sponsoring agencies; manage extramural funded projects; perform independent and critical analysis of literature; as well as providing resources and creating publications in support of issues as requested. Prepares material for website and newsletters.

Required Minimum Education and Experience Required

PhD in chemistry, biology, enology and 3-6 years of experience required with a major in chemistry or biology.

Required Qualifications

Experience in sensory evaluation and ability to plan and coordinate complex research and outreach programs for sponsors and industry personnel is highly desirable
