The Manager/Senior Manager of Materials Supply Chain will be responsible for directing and coordinating all supply chain activities with an eye toward managing working capital as it relates to inventory levels. This key leader will also be responsible for building and maintaining a strong team of professionals across supply chain who have a bias toward taking action to address the needs of both internal and external customers. Driving process improvement through leveraging lean skills and techniques will be critical toward creating the most efficient process, workflows, and systems. This position plays a significant role in sourcing high quality and cost-effective materials and services in supporting production operations to ensure D S Brown products are viewed as the best in the industry and cost competitive, while maintaining high operating margins. Developing and retaining top talent will be critical to the success of this role and requires on-going attention to the health and well-being of the Supply Chain Team. This position is one of two top Operations leaders reporting to the VP/GM with responsibility for the successful and profitable operation of the business with a focus on driving profitable growth by product line.

What You'll Do
The ideal candidate will have the ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Primary Accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:
Manage vendor network to ensure supply of materials that meet DS Brown quality standards and production schedules
Build and develop a supply chain organizational culture that has a bias for action, commitment to value-added services/processes, and a sense of accountability and leadership
Manage aspects of working capital related to materials to ensure appropriate inventory levels and excess of billings working with the Director of Production
Use Market rate of Demand (MRD) to manage inventory by product line in keeping with working capital targets
Work collaboratively with the planners to better integrate the planning function with supply chain to ensure materials are being ordered as needed to optimize the velocity of projects moving through the shop
Identify and develop outsourcing opportunities to reduce cost and/or lead time during periods of peak demand.
Identify and drive annual savings in purchased items to ensure margin improvement targets are achieved annually
Promote, develop, and support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives that drive process flow improvements, project velocity, and cost savings
Responsible for meeting or exceeding department metrics (bowlers) in monthly execution reviews and ensuring corrective actions are taken when required to align with performance expectations
Proactively manage Purchasing staff performance, follow-up on staff performance by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Resolve conflict/provide solutions by exercising high levels of influencing, negotiation, and communication skills. Be proactive and address issues when they arise
Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure that D S Brown has the most capable vendors/partners who meet the business' needs for product or services including items such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
Keep abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in the assigned markets, new or altered types of materials entering the market, etc.
Work with manufacturers or persuade potential vendors to undertake the manufacturing of custom-designed items according to user's specific needs and specifications
Play the primary role in strategic planning supporting supply chain strategies and ensuring cost and quality targets are identified, tracked, and achieved consistently. Coordinate Cost Reduction Tracking Program, including reporting In addition to the accountabilities listed above, individuals may perform other duties as assigned.
