Summary:

Our Enterprise Data and Analytics team is growing. We’re looking for a Data Science Director to build and develop our growing Data Science team and help lead us into the next generation of banking. We are reimagining how data is used across the bank to better serve our customers, support our communities, and make our colleagues lives better. Our goal is to be the best performing Regional Bank in America, and we need data and analytics to meet that goal.

As we grow our data science and analytics team, we need a Data Science Director to develop experts in modeling complex business problems and discovering business insights using statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques. We are looking for a leader who has a passion for developing others, driving change, and continuously improving and evolving the application of technologies to meet todays and tomorrow’s challenges. The Data Science Director will lead multiple teams responsible for building and deploying Data Science for some of Huntington’s most valuable and most challenging data-driven projects across several areas of the bank.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Sets the strategy and tone for the data science strategy and vision for the future.

Prioritizes a portfolio of analytical projects based on business value, technological readiness, and team capabilities.

Owns the entire model development process, from identifying the business requirements, data sourcing, model fitting, presenting results, and production scoring.

Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members and analytics external to their team.

Leads their team in developing a consulting approach to developing technology across all areas of the organization.

Identifies the roles, skills, and knowledge required to achieve enterprise goals, and forecasts new skill requirements with external business leaders.

Leads the evaluation of tools with key stakeholders across varying management levels to prioritize analytics use cases and requests and maintain the overall book of work.

Plans the execution of work, develops KPIs, monitors progress, and ensures the achievement of team goals and business goals.

Works with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are clearly understood and that services meet those needs.

Anticipates and analyzes trends in technology while assessing the emerging technology’s impact(s).

Coaches' individuals and business partners through change and serves as a role model for the practice of analytics.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in computer science, statistics, economics or related fields

12+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, or similar skillset, experience working with analytics, and technical leadership and management experience on data-centric products

Hands-on manager with a proven track record of leading and growing successful data teams

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in computer science, statistics, economics or related fields

Ability to foster an inclusive and innovative working environment within the analytics team and across businesses

Demonstrated negotiation, influencing, partnership & presentation/communication skills

Ability to understand business challenges and translate them into value added, data driven solutions

Recognized expert in multiple data science techniques including experimental design and predictive modeling

Experienced in leading teams using both structured and unstructured data sources to solve business problems

Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job

Demonstrated ability to communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences

Financial Services background with experiences in marketing, logistics, risk assessment, and regulatory oversight

Experience leading teams to conduct statistical analysis and ensure quality in their analyses

Experience with leading teams using big data analysis tools and techniques

Experience with ensuring quality control and risk management are built into analytics processes

Expert understanding of statistical methods and skills such as Bayesian Networks Inference, linear and non-linear regression, hierarchical, mixed models/multi-level modeling

Demonstrated Expertise with at least one Data Science environment (R/RStudio, Python, SAS) and at least one database architecture (SQL, NoSQL).

Ability to teach others to use these tools and develop best practices.

Strong experience with Cloud Machine Learning technologies (e.g., AWS Sagemaker)

Strong experience with machine learning environments (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn, caret)
