Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a highly collaborative engineering leader to join our team as a Senior Automation Engineer.

This position provides leadership in technical manufacturing for the design, acquisition, troubleshooting of automation equipment, standard manufacturing equipment and processes with advance machine control programming to meet our safety, quality and efficiency requirements for new & existing products. Ensures all functions of job duties are performed in compliance with Wahl Operations System & ISO standards as applicable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Designs and procures automation equipment. Partners with vendors/suppliers in the design/development and redesign of automation equipment to ensure manufacturing requirements are met, improve quality, improve productivity and decrease manufacturing process costs.

Ensures manufacturing meets production goals while troubleshooting mechanical/operational problems, advance programming, electrical control programs, and making process adjustments.

Troubleshoots electronic controls on automated equipment, replaces electronic devices/control system components, programs electronic controllers, programs robots and makes process adjustments.

Writes and updates company equipment standards.

Designs/redesigns and procures automation equipment.

Troubleshoots mechanical and electronic equipment and devices.

Works to improve productivity, quality and decrease costs of manufacturing process.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provide specialist level support, serving as a leader & subject matter expert in automation.

Serving as a change management leader, ensures automation initiatives meet objectives on time and on budget by increasing employee adoption and usage.

Assists in developing strategies for the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of all automation equipment, processes, and programming across the factory.

Partners cross-functionally with Safety, Compliance, Operations, Maintenance, Sales, Product Management, Global Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain, to define needs and identify business requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required or automation engineering with discipline in electrical code equivalent.

Minimum 10 years of related experience; preferably in a LEAN manufacturing environment.

Proficient in automation design & troubleshooting / specifying industrial controls & programming

Automation experience preferred: systems from coil winding, screw driving, ultrasonic welding, robotics in high-speed assembly to simple automation

Programming experience preferred: Allen Bradley PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers), Siemens PLC's, language programming, OIP (Operator interface panels), VFD (variable frequency drives) & CAD (computer aided drafting).

Experience with Industry 4.0 concepts preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft applications MS Office.
