Job Summary
At Prevea Health, the Advanced Practice Provider Surgical is an advanced practice nurse or physician assistant in a specified surgical care department, working alongside surgeons to ensure optimal patient outcomes. They play a vital role in pre-operative assessments, surgical procedures, and post-operative care, enhancing the efficiency and quality of our surgical services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Their expertise helps deliver compassionate, comprehensive care to patients throughout their surgical journey.
What you will do
Assist in surgical procedures as a first or second assist, adhering to aseptic techniques and surgical protocols.
Perform surgical procedures under supervision or independently, as per scope of practice and credentialing.
Provide postoperative follow-up care, including wound management, suture/staple removal, and patient education. Also provides services as appropriate to assigned specialty, which may include the ordering of appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, the prescription of pharmacological agents, and other non-pharmacological treatment modalities
Provides assessment, evaluation, and management to patients that may include but is not limited to minor, acute, chronic, & episodic illness & injuries. Including performance of follow up exams if required.
Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information, documenting all details in the electronic medical record.
Collaborate with physicians and other providers to develop and implement patient care plans to ensure the best possible care and outcomes of patients.
Provides case management services to assist clients and families with the arrangement for, or refer patients to needed services.
Collaborates with patients to review their health background and wellness provide health counseling and education to determine physiological, emotional, and environmental needs, using this information to advise patients and their families on future health plans and illness prevention.
Education Qualifications
Graduate of a minimum master's level nurse practitioner program OR graduate from an accredited physician assistant program. RequiredExperience Qualifications
1-3 years work experience in a clinical setting within a health care organization. Preferably in the surgical department applying to. PreferredSkills and Abilities
Understanding of the surgical department's information and techniques necessary for diagnosing and treating human injuries and diseases, including symptom recognition, treatment methods, medication properties and interactions, as well as preventive healthcare practices.
Excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors
Ability to form work/patient relationships with patients and peers.
Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
Ability to handle and process confidential information.
Fosters teamwork through effective written and verbal communication.Licenses and Certifications
Individual must posses either thelicenses/certificationdetails of a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant.
Nurse Practitioner: Registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin with a certification through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Nurse Association (ANA). Also certified in the State of Wisconsin as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber or certification eligible, obtaining certification at the first opportunity Upon Hire Required
Physician Assistant: Licensed by the state of Wisconsin as a Physician Assistant. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant. Upon Hire Required
