Senior Database Administrator is a generalist who is responsible for all aspects of data analysis and database management.
Database Administrators typically are responsible for a combination of back-end systems management tasks such as provisioning, software installation, patching, and creation of new (or decommissioning of old) databases; capacity and performance analysis, tuning and forecasting; incident and problem management; and support of software development lifecycle tasks such as deploying new database objects.
In addition to this the Database Administrator will also have responsibility for managing and supporting tools for monitoring databases, backup and recovery, and DevOps enablement functions such as refreshes or data cloning. Database Administrators will be expected to interface with vendor support organizations and manage cases as needed.
The Database Administrator will frequently work with other Delta infrastructure teams as well as application development teams, and strong communication skills both written and oral are a must.
The ability to work on multiple projects or initiatives concurrently, and to self-prioritize these tasks and work independently are all critical skills.
The Database Administrator is a senior technical role at Delta and as such there will almost certainly be opportunities to work with more junior team members and mentor and support them. Delta maintains two primary Information Technology Hubs in the US – one in Atlanta, Georgia and the other in Minneapolis, Minnesota. An applicant for the Database Administrator role will be expected to work the majority of their time on-site at one of these locations.
There is some degree of flexibility, but this is not intended as a hybrid or entirely remote working opportunity.
