We are seeking a Research Senior Technician to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University. The Research Senior Technician position is focused on the crystal growth and characterization of goniopolar materials. The Research Senior Technician will work in a vibrant team environment to grow single crystals by implementing and refining arc-melting, and floating zone growth techniques, characterize the structure and single-crystallinity via powder and Laue X-ray diffraction, and evaluate the properties via thermal, electrical and thermoelectric measurements such as Hall, Nernst, and Seebeck effects. The Research Senior Technician will actively communicate and consult with the team and anticipate, recognize and solve routine issues that occur without supervisory approval.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
Additional Education Desired
Research experience in an academic institution is desired. Experience with the following techniques is also desired, but not required: implementing and refining arc-melting, and floating zone growth techniques, characterize the structure and single-crystallinity via powder and Laue X-ray diffraction, and evaluate the properties via thermal, electrical and thermoelectric measurements such as Hall, Nernst, and Seebeck effects.
Additional Information:
The pay range for this job profile is $19.28-$25.19/hr.. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
