About Ardian Expansion
The Ardian Expansion team, with offices in Paris, Frankfurt, Milan and Luxembourg, invests in mid-sized companies across France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain as well as Switzerland, targeting businesses with Enterprise Values between €100m and €500m. With assets of US$8bn managed or advised, the team’s value creation is focused on internationalization and digitalization of national or European champions as well as the implementation of active buy-and-build strategies. The pan-European investment team, composed of 36 investment professionals, has a strong track record in developing partnerships with leading players across multiple industries with a particular focus on IT & technologies, medtech & healthcare, business services as well as value-added industrials. Recently, the Ardian Expansion successfully completed the fundraising for its sixth fund generation at €3.2bn, marking a 60% increase versus its previous fund generation.
The role
The Ardian Expansion team is looking for an Analyst to support the growing investment team in Frankfurt throughout the whole investment process as well as during the monitoring of its portfolio companies.
The Analyst will become an integral part of the team, with high levels of interaction with external stakeholders including founders, owners and management teams of target companies as well as external advisors in addition to all Expansion investment professionals at Ardian, other investment teams, support functions. Key responsibilities for the Analyst include:
Commercial and financial analysis of business models / potential targets
Market analysis, identification and assessment of investment opportunities
Financial modelling required for business planning and valuation assignments, i.e. LBOs
Support of senior investment professionals at various due diligence streams
Support in the preparation of investment proposals, presentations and legal documents
Contribution to the complete transaction process from the investment decision to transaction closing
Ongoing monitoring of portfolio companies and support of value creation measures, reportings, etc.
Required skills
Broad set of quantitative, qualitative and interpersonal skills (strong team player)
Excellent analytical skills, with high level of attention to detail
Intellectual curiosity and discipline combined with ability to organize and perform work efficiently
Deep knowledge of financial statement analysis, financial modelling, valuation techniques
Excellent commercial understanding and ability to critically assess different business models and industries
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Profile
University degree in business administration, economics or a similar field of study from a renowned university
Study focus: Finance, Accounting, Strategic Management, etc.
Excellent academic performance
Practical experience in related fields (Private Equity, Investment Banking (M&A, Leveraged Finance), Corporate Finance, Strategy Consulting)
Highly motivated, able to work under pressure and a strong ability to work in a team
Excellent knowledge of German and English, orally and in writing, additional language is a plus
