Job Title: Correctional Facility Pharmacist

Pay: $63-$67 an hr Bi-weekly

Job Type:

Onsite in Columbus OH 43223

Shift Options:

Full-time 40 hours/week

Rotating Weekday Shifts:

Week 1: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Week 2: 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Weekend: One day every 3rd weekend (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Correctional Facility Pharmacist Overview:

Accurately compound, count, and dispense prescriptions in accordance with Ohio law

Review drug therapies for dosage, duration, interactions, and adverse effects

Communicate with prescribers and staff to address concerns or updates in patient care

Assist in developing policies and procedures for improved efficiency and accountability

Oversee drug delivery, inventory, stock rotation, and returns

Inspect ward stock and crash carts for compliance

Maintain security and proper handling of all pharmaceutical inventory, especially controlled substances

Use pharmacy software to track dispensing, generate reports, and maintain compliance documentation

Update institutional formularies and attend continuing education/staff meetings

Provide clinical leadership and support to assigned pharmacy personnel

Correctional Facility Pharmacist Qualifications:

Current and valid Ohio Pharmacist License (per ORC 4729.01 – 4729.29)

Must provide own reliable transportation

Ability to lift at least 20 pounds

Required Skills & Knowledge

Deep understanding of federal and state pharmacy laws

Experience with inventory control and pharmacy recordkeeping

Proficiency with pharmacy software and computers

Ability to interpret and apply complex medical/pharmaceutical information

Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., JCAHO, ICF/MR)

Ongoing Training

Must complete all continuing pharmacy education as required by ORC Section 4729.12 and OAC Sections 4729-7-01 through 4729-7-07

Working Conditions

May need to return after hours for urgent medication needs

Possible exposure to violent or irate residents/inmates
