Staff Engineering Specialist - FPGA/ASIC Design & Verification

Overview

In this role, you will be a key member of a technical team responsible for the specification, design, verification and integration of FPGA and/or ASIC based solutions in support of inertial measurement (IMU) and navigation (INS) products/solutions for use in aircraft, UAV's, missiles, land vehicles, and sea platforms.

The candidate will be a member of a project-integrated team supporting both IRAD and customer funded contracts for the development of IMU and INS systems for both commercial and military market spaces.

Essential Functions

* Candidate must be proficient in the development of programmable digital systems utilizing HDL and the associated simulation and implementation tools associated with the FPGA/ASIC development/design process.

* Must be able to execute in all phases of development: conception, requirements, design, implementation, hardware integration, verification to requirements and product lifecycle support.

* Candidate must be familiar with state-of-the-art Multiprocessor System on Chip (MPSoC) technologies and be able to research and establish best fit and functionality per application.

* Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to work alongside electrical and mechanical teams.

* Candidate must be capable of working with little technical oversight to meet the needs of the project and associated end products within a certified quality management environment.

Critical Competencies

* Able to conceptualize, design, develop, and verify HDL designs that support system requirements

* Able to develop processing architecture to be implemented in VHDL

* Able to build Test bench to verify processing approach. Experience with ModelSim a plus

* Able to synthesize designs that meet/exceed strict timing and reliability constraints over temperature

* Knowledge of FPGA architecture to maximize use of device resources

* Able to leverage vendor-supplied soft and hard Intellectual Property (IP) where applicable

* Knowledge of DO-254 level of lifecycle documentation/data development including requirements generation and formal validation

* Able to specify, develop and perform verification testing on end-item hardware

* Knowledge and experience within version control environments

* Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills

* Minimum of BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering required, MS preferred

* HDL design and verification (8-10 years of experience)

* Experience with DOORS a plus

* Experience with tools from vendors such as Xilinx, MicroChip (MicroSemi/Actel), Synopsys, and Mentor Graphics

* Knowledge (proficiency preferred) Microsoft Office tools

* Bonus: System Verilog for Verification (UVM), scripting

* Bonus: C-language based software familiarity

Requirements

* Minimum, B.S. in Electrical Engineering

* 7+ years as a Senior Engineer in FPGA/ASIC Design & Verification

* Must be able to work on-site daily

* Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance

* Available to travel within US

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $110,000 - $160,000 Annually. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
