Job Description
This position handles the dissemination of criminal records, perform non-criminal justice dissemination and act as general receptionist to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) division.
Responsibilities may include processing:
All mailed and in-person non-criminal justice requests
All counter requests for dissemination of data, including public criminal history requests
Review and process fees on fingerprint cards for state and federal criminal history checks
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to communicate with others and understand information; read, write and respond to customers in fluent English.
Cashiering and basic math skills in order to collect, count, reconcile and complete daily transactions.
Customer service skills sufficient to assist customers over the phone, in person, and in writing.
Experience providing in-person customer service in a high volume, stressful environment.
Ability to enter data, keyboard/type, create and edit a variety of documents accurately.
Typing-Keyboarding skills.
Data entry skills sufficient to enter data onto paper forms and computer entry screens.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of legal/criminal terminology sufficient to read and interpret criminal history and other documents received from criminal justice agencies.
knowledge of state statutes regarding the restrictions on maintaining and disseminating records.
Ability to problem solve while working independently.
Cash handling experience.
Experience with basic office equipment and Internet.
Ability to pay close attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50 pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
