Job Description
SUMMARY
Supports production areas with quality issues and questions. Participates in external audits and leads supplier and internal plant audits. Maintains documentation on audit findings and is responsible for following up on corrective action plans and areas of non-conformance. Oversees the process for raw material and finished product specification updates and approvals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Position requires time to be spent on the production floor and office - 50%/50% floor/office time balance.
Creating and updating documentation – Work instructions, SOP’s, process flows, etc.
Manage the disposition and documentation of non-conforming material, opening CAPAs when necessary.
Create and implement inspection and test methods.
Perform first article inspections at the setup of every new job.
Perform routine quality audits on current jobs.
Perform routine process audits as needed
Review production paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
Document, investigate, and follow-up on CAPAs as required in order to close out any non-conformance issues.
Implement and conduct associate training on quality documents, processes, or standards.
Daily tracking and disposition of scrap.
Daily weld shear testing.
Daily paint adhesion/thickness tests performed.
Sorting in process or finished goods inventories as required.
Dispositioning suspect/non-conforming product with non-conformance tags attached.
Data entry and/or management of QMS software tasks and records.
Perform quarterly calibration of measuring equipment used throughout production.
Support any other requested production or quality activity as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong leadership and conflict management skills
Quality inspection, auditing and testing experience
QMS software experience in an ISO 9001 environment
Product or industry-specific experience
Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills
Data collection and analysis – experience with MiniTab or other analytical software is a plus
Knowledge of tools, concepts, and methodologies of QA – 5 Whys, 8D’s, 5P’s, mind mapping, etc.
Competent in blueprint / drawing reading
Proficient using micrometer, calipers, tape measure, torque wrench, height gauge.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Strong math skills
Attention to detail
Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
Able to lift up to 60 pounds, bend, and work on your feet in a production environment.
Comfortable working around large, automated machinery and computer-controlled systems.
Self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and within a team.
