We are looking for a skilled Controller to oversee financial operations and accounting activities for our organization in Richmond, Virginia. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong background in managing teams and ensuring precision in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving internal controls, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring smooth operations across areas such as cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory accounting.
• Oversee general ledger activities, including account setups, journal entry reviews, and reconciliation processes.
• Coordinate the creation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports to support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare and present accurate monthly financial statements and quarterly board reports in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage tax filings at local, state, and federal levels.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes to maintain timely and accurate reporting.
• Develop and implement robust accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
• Collaborate with department leaders to support ongoing business operations and financial initiatives.
• Conduct financial analyses to provide insights for operational improvements and strategic growth.
• Manage quality control over all financial transactions and reporting processes.• Proven experience in accounting and financial management, with leadership expertise.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems, including NetSuite.
• Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting processes.
• Knowledge of budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting and tax compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to conduct detailed financial analyses.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities to collaborate across departments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly desirable.
